Good hygiene guide for mail order food published
The first in a series of ten practical guides for the food industry is to be published in February.
The Mail Order Guide covers the sale of all perishable foods by mail order, when delivery to the final consumer is in an un-refrigerated vehicle.
Published by TSO on behalf of an industry working group that includes the Royal Mail, Packaging Federation, Local Authorities Coordinators of Regulatory Services, the National Farmers’ Union and the Mail Order Fine Foods Association the guides will help operators meet legal requirements and ensure food safety. All the guides have a special status in law – where a business is following the guidance in any of these recognised guides, the enforcement authority must take this into account when assessing compliance with the legislation.
All the guides will be officially recognised by the Food Standards Agency and will be written by industry members and key stakeholders, with each guide focusing on a different sector of the food industry.
Priced at £10 and available from 9th February, Mail Order Food Guide to Good Hygiene Practice (ISBN 9780112430971) can be ordered in advance online at www.tsoshop.co.uk as well as from TSO’s own stores and other leading bookshops, or via 0870 600 5522.
